Newfound Lake

If you squint real hard through the leaves, you can see Newfound Lake
from our cottage. Fed by underground springs and two rivers,
Newfound Lake is rated one of the ten cleanest in the world.

This sandy public beach is just a short walk
down the road. It's a steep road, so we usually drive.
(It's easier than carrying the beach toys, chairs, floats
books, and, of course, lunch.)

Just past the beach is the Alexandria Boathouse where
sailboats and canoes can be rented.

Walk ten minutes in the other direction and you'll come to another
beach with a great view of Mt. Cardigan. The seven-mile-long, 2-3/4 mile
wide lake is surrounded by unspoiled shoreline and mountain views.


It's the perfect all-around recreation lake with a sand and rock
bottom and very little vegetation. (Perfect for two-year-olds.)
